The original design shown here is from the early 1600s, and was made in Turkey (Istanbul or Bursa) with velvet, silk, gilt- and silver-metal thread and cotton. Fabric image courtesy of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
We absolutely love these tote bags! They're helpful, versatile, can carry a lot — plus they fold up nicely so you can tuck them away when you're done.
They're especially handy as reusable grocery shopping bags, but they're ready to serve as carriers for all kinds of things. (You could even use them in place of wrapping paper or a gift bag = festive and useful!)
Here are some more details:
Tote bags are 18" x 18" and have a box bottom that is 4-1/2" wide
The main part of this bag is made from 100% spun polyester poplin fabric, which has a canvas-like weave
The black handle /shoulder strap is made of cotton, and is 1" wide
This tote features the same design on both front and back (exterior)
The interior is black
Do not launder these bags — please dry clean or spot clean only
Many of the designs featured are based on vintage artwork, but none of these tote bags are old or actual antiques - they're all brand new, and aren't sold anywhere else.
